Lukashenko: military to be held accountable for weapon and armour condition
During today’s meeting focusing on the results of the Armed Forces’ comprehensive inspection, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised that the military would be held accountable for the condition of weapons and armour, BelTA reports
The Head of State noted that, during the inspection, special attention was paid to the condition of weapons, military equipment, and their maintenance. “What I want to say: what will be our value if we have a machine gun, a grenade launcher, a pistol, or probably a portable anti-aircraft missile system out of order? How will you fight if our personal weapons are not in order? Actually, modern warfare is not just about machine guns, grenade launchers, submachine guns, and pistols. It is about your military hardware, your tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, Osa [anti-aircraft missile systems], and other air defence systems – not to mention Polonez [multiple rocket launchers]. It's all your armour," the Head of State said.
"That was the main point for me. I constantly warned the Minister and the State Secretary (who’s a military man): ‘Keep in mind that you will be fully held accountable for the state of the military hardware’. This equally refers to the military personnel," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
