Lukashenko instructed to actively engage in diversification of exports of mineral fertilisers

The President of Belarus instructed not to focus on one market and to be more actively involved in diversifying exports of mineral fertilisers. Aleksandr Lukashenko has set such a task today, when he made personnel decisions. Vitaly Osipenko, who until now worked as the First Deputy Director – Chief Engineer of the Gomel Chemical Plant, will now be in charge of SvetlogorskKhimvolokno JSC. But the President first of all asked the new head how the Gomel Chemical Plant works.

“To date, all consumer applications for mineral fertilisers have been met. We are making new brands,” Vitaly Osipenko reported.

“What about exports?” the President asked.

“Today this is primarily the Russian Federation. We offer our niche products, which are not produced by large Russian manufacturers. We have found our niche with microelements, with additives, and Russian buyers are happy to purchase them.”

The next question from the Head of State is whether there is any interest in the domestic market in compound fertilisers produced by the Gomel Chemical Plant.

“There are questions of interest,” said Vitaly Osipenko. “As far as the technical part is concerned, we can meet all the needs of the domestic market for compound fertilisers.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that this was a good increase in the enterprise’s work, “We need to orient the Government in this regard. They throw into the soil separately potassium, separately phosphorus, separately nitrogen. You do it in a compound way: everything is in one granule. It is necessary to buy; it gives a good effect. They sell these products in Russia, all over the world. But we must look and orient everyone to the fact that we can’t put all eggs in one basket. Russia is a close state to us, but it boasts these technologies and produces these fertilisers. It will also manufacture compound fertilisers. Moreover, no one cancelled the competition. And so that we are not squeezed out of a single market, we need to have a wider range of exports.”

The President noted that he was not deeply immersed in the work of this enterprise.

“But it seems to me that there is a good atmosphere there. However, logistics is logistics. And there’re questions regarding the payment for export deliveries (except for Russia). They need to be settled. This is our fate,” the Head of State noted.

Addressing the new heads, Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined, “You are not new to production. You know what to do, including at Naftan.”

Oleg Zhebin has been appointed Director General of this oil refinery. The President continued the topic, “Naftan and the Mozyr Oil Refinery are under a magnifying glass. You must provide order here. It seems that the performance of the oil refineries has been fixed. Russians, and the Russian President did great. They greatly assisted us.”

“We are provided with raw materials, we’re working steadily,” the head of the enterprise assured.

“If you need more raw materials, it’s not a question,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “If the economy is not worse, but better, please, raw materials are not a question. Sales are ensured, the demand is huge. How much you give, so much we will sell. That is, it’s possible to work in any situation.”
