Lukashenko instructed new Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection to take control of tree planting

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, when appointing Sergei Maslyak as Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, instructed him to take control of tree planting

The Head of State stressed that it is very important to protect the environment, “Belarusian nature has been given to our people by God, and we need to preserve it. I am very demanding. I spent my childhood in the countryside, and I got used to take care not only of animals, but also of plants. There should be more of them, there should be a lot. Take the planting of trees under your control, and I am speaking of such places as road slopes, some inarable lands, and so on. Trees can grow everywhere, and – in eighty years – there will be good timber that our children can use.”

According to the President, landscaping is very important from the point of view of ecology. “Woods, in addition to swamps, are the main oxygen generators on our planet. Therefore, trees should be planted wherever they can grow. We have beautiful evergreen trees: spruce, pine, and thuja. Therefore, we need to work in this direction. There is a lot of work to do in this regard, and it has been underperformed yet,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
