Lukashenko instructed, if necessary, to provide enterprises’ IT sectors with working conditions as in HTP

The President of Belarus considers it necessary, if there’s such a need, to provide the IT sectors of enterprises with working conditions similar to those in the Hi-Tech Park. The Head of State stated this today when making personnel decisions.

In particular, Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed Aleksandr Botvinnik, whose candidacy has been approved for the post of Director General of Minsk Motor Plant Holding Managing Company. Until now, he has worked as the First Deputy General Director of BELAZ, where he supervised the sphere of strategic development, innovation activity and information technologies.

“There is an opinion that the IT-park has played a positive role in the development of information technologies in our country. But today, any enterprise, the Academy of Sciences, educational institutions boast sufficient competencies in IT. If, God forbid, something happens to the IT-park, then our real sector, our social sphere will be able to do without it, developing their own information technologies. How do you feel about this point of view and how advanced is IT today, e.g., in industry?” Aleksandr Lukashenko asked.

Using the example of BELAZ, Aleksandr Botvinnik reported that all digital solutions and software are BELAZ’s own developments, “We did not involve any specialists or companies to develop this software, thus ensuring our information security. The Belarusian Automobile Works is also considering the establishment of its own HTP resident company in 2023-2024 in order to receive appropriate tax benefits. But if the Hi-Tech Park does not exist, then we are able to carry out all the necessary developments on our own.”

In this regard, the President instructed to consider the issue of providing the necessary benefits and working conditions to enterprises’ IT sectors without joining the HTP.
