Directly in the Palace of Independence, more than 300 people, pupils, graduate students, young scientists, schoolchildren and students of institutions of specialised secondary education from all regions took part in the open lesson. These also include scholarship holders of the President’s Special Fund for Social Support for Gifted Students, holders of Presidential scholarships, winners and laureates of creative international and nationwide competitions.

The Head of State began the lesson unexpectedly, citing one quote from the Internet, “The growth of Lukashenko’s personality cult, including the obligation of young people to listen to his instructions before the start of the school year, is quite a typical element of totalitarian regimes.”

“There hasn’t been lesson yet, there hasn’t been a conversation yet, and they already speak about totalitarianism,” Aleksandr Lukashenko responded. “First of all, we are familiar with this. Secondly, there will be no totalitarianism. Everything will be as I planned when you proposed me to conduct this lesson.”

Such a proposal was made during a recent meeting of the President with the pioneers at the Independence Palace.

First of all, Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke out to the most burning issue of the day. The Head of State said that as of yesterday, more than 8 million tonnes of grain had already been harvested in the country. Today it will be closer to 8.2m. There is an opportunity to collect 11 million tonnes of grain: this has never happened in our country. Meanwhile, the leading Belarusian enterprises, despite the sanctions, continue to develop and master modern technologies. Moreover, there is even a queue for some goods.

The President also drew attention to the fact that the army, border guards, and special services stay alert, because the situation near the borders is tense.
