Lukashenko held talks with Prigozhin and helped Russia resolve situation with PMC Wagner

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has held talks with the head of the Wagner private military company (PMC), Yevgeny Prigozhin, the Belarusian leader’s press service reports

"This morning, Russian President Vladimir Putin informed his Belarusian counterpart about the situation with the Wagner private military company in the south of Russia. The heads of state agreed on joint actions,” the source said.

“As a follow-up to the agreements, the President of Belarus, having clarified the situation through his own channels, in co-ordination with the President of Russia, held talks with the Wagner PMC head, Yevgeny Prigozhin.

The negotiations lasted throughout the day. As a result, an agreement was reached on the inadmissibility of unleashing a bloody massacre on the territory of Russia. Yevgeny Prigozhin accepted the proposal of the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, on stopping the advance of Wagner’s armed units in the territory of Russia and on further steps to de-escalate tension.

At the moment, an absolutely advantageous and acceptable variant to settle the situation is available, and it envisages security guarantees for the Wagner fighters.

As previously reported, the President of Belarus has also held two meetings with the country's power bloc on this situation today."
