Lukashenko heading to Tajikistan on working visit
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has departed for Tajikistan on a working visit to participate in the CIS Heads of State Council meeting in Dushanbe scheduled for October 10th, sb.by reports citing the Belarusian leader’s press service

The CIS Heads of State will address about two dozen items. The organisation plans to consider a number of initiatives to strengthen its international positioning, in particular creating a ‘CIS Plus’ format and granting the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation observer status within the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The meeting’s agenda also includes energy security, military co-operation, border security, as well as combating transnational crime.
The CIS Heads of State joint statement regarding forthcoming 40 years since the Chernobyl disaster is a crucial point for Belarus within the agenda. The meeting will discuss co-ordinated actions by the CIS countries when addressing the matter at the UN General Assembly session.
Additionally, the summit participants will focus on the CIS current activities.
Relevant international documents are expected to be signed following the event.
