Lukashenko: friendship of Belarusians and Italians will not be ruined by politicians’ ambitions or geopolitical confrontation

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has congratulated the people of Italy on Republic Day – as reported by the Belarusian leader’s press service

"This year is a jubilee one for the history of Belarusian–Italian bilateral contacts: our states are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The ties between our two countries have been tested by time, and we can now assert with confidence that Belarusians and Italians enjoy strong and sincere friendship. This unity cannot be destroyed either by opportunistic ambitions of politicians or by geopolitical confrontation, which, unfortunately, has recently been gaining the harshest features," the congratulatory message reads.

The Head of State expressed gratitude to the people of Italy for hospitality and warmth which they demonstrated for many years while receiving children from Belarus, for numerous Italian voices in support of Belarus in difficult times, for kind hearts and bright feelings.

"I am convinced that, despite all the trials, Belarus and Italy will implement many more large mutually beneficial projects in the future along a wide range of co-operation avenue – including trade, investment, industrial co-operation, tourism, education and cultural exchange," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

The President wished the people of Italy peace, harmony and prosperity.
