Lukashenko expressed condolences to Namibia President over death of Hage Geingob

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has sent condolences to Namibia’s newly sworn-in President Nangolo Mbumba over the death of Hage Geingob – as reported by the Belarusian leader’s press service

“It is with great sadness that Belarus learned of the death of the President of the Republic of Namibia, Hage Geingob – a famous political figure and ideological fighter for the independence of the Namibian people,” the condolence message reads. “President Geingob’s political principles – justice, equality of all nations and anti-colonialism – commanded respect and inspired leaders both in African countries and far beyond the continent.”

The Head of State expressed confidence that Hage Geingob left the country in the reliable hands of like-minded associates who will continue his lifework. “Belarus is ready to lend a helping hand in Namibia’s achieving the goals set by President Geingob in ensuring food and energy security, agricultural mechanisation, education and technology transfer,” Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined.

The President of Belarus, on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, addressed the words of support to the family and friends of Hage Geingob, while also expressing condolences to President Nangolo Mbumba and the entire people of Namibia.

As reported, Namibian President Hage Geingob, who led the country since 2015, died on February 4th at the age of 82. Nangolo Mbumba, who previously served as Vice President, took over as head of state.
