Lukashenko explained essence of Belarus’ foreign policy

Belarus is ready for dialogue with all countries without exception – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during today’s ceremony of receiving credentials from the ambassadors of foreign states

Addressing the diplomats, the Head of State noted, “We proceed from the fact that improving the quality of people’s life is impossible without ensuring security, a just world, fair distribution of resources and labour results. This can be achieved if we work together, not separately. Only through peace and stability will we be able to guarantee a decent future for our children and grandchildren. Therefore, Belarus’ foreign policy primarily relies on the principles of respect, equality and justice. We’re ready for dialogue with all countries, without exception, on any issue.”

According to the President, Belarus pays special attention to interaction with those states that want it, with whom we have a lot in common and with which we have no closed topics.

As is traditional, Aleksandr Lukashenko briefly discussed the priorities of co-operation with the countries represented by the diplomats.

On co-operation with Azerbaijan

“We greatly appreciate the strategic partnership with Azerbaijan. We’re especially grateful to our friends for constructive approach and, above all, to President Ilham Aliyev, who recently received enormous popular support in the presidential elections. I propose to more actively use the agreements between the two countries’ leaders to settle issues in our areas of interest,” noted the Head of State.

On co-operation with Uzbekistan

According to the President, comprehensive ties with Uzbekistan – our strategic partner in Central Asia – are extremely important for Belarus, “I’m very grateful to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the recent warm welcome and substantive dialogue, which will very soon result in the implementation of new breakthrough projects and the development of interregional ties. I’m convinced that you, Mr. Ambassador, as a person who has worked in Belarus and who knows our country well, will be involved to the utmost in the implementation of agreements reached at the top level, and will use all your knowledge and experience to strengthen bilateral ties.”

On co-operation with Kyrgyzstan

The President underlined, “Kyrgyzstan is our friend and reliable partner. In recent years, mutual trade has been constantly growing, but we are able to achieve much more. I’m confident that we are able to significantly intensifying trade-economic liaisons, giving them a systematic and targeted character.”

On co-operation with Turkiye

The Head of State stressed that Turkiye is Belarus’ long-time strategic partner, “Minsk and Ankara are united by the priority of national interests, provision of national security, importance of the traditional family, preservation of historical memory and much more. We’re looking forward for counter proposals and initiatives that will be implemented for the benefit of our states.”

On co-operation with Japan

Aleksandr Lukashenko asserted that Belarus hoped to resume full interaction with Japan, “We’re ready to move along the path of co-operation as quickly and far as our Japanese partners are ready for this. Minsk and Tokyo have a unique experience of scientific and humanitarian interaction. We must not limit ourselves to this. We must move forward and find ways of co-operation. We’re ready for this. We have a very high opinion of Japan – a high-tech country where responsible and hardworking people live – the same as in Belarus. Let’s look for ways to liaise in this difficult situation.”

On co-operation with Nepal

The President believes that the time has come to more effectively use the necessary resource to develop ties with Nepal, “We can start with projects to modernise the agricultural sector, industry and energy complex. We’re ready to share knowledge and experience in the sci-tech area and train your students in high-demand specialties.”

On co-operation with Oman

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, relations between Belarus and the Sultanate of Oman have always been marked by a high level of mutual understanding, “Your country is one of Belarus’ most important partners in the Middle East. We need to resume our contacts and our co-operation. You have a wonderful country and wonderful people; I have been there. Let’s liaise. We’re ready to continue constructive political dialogue and implement joint investment, logistics, and industrial projects. I hope that you will be a frequent guest at the Belarusian Government, organisations and enterprises.”

On co-operation with the Republic of Guinea

The President said that Africa has recently become one of the main guidelines of Belarus’ foreign policy, “We are now actively working on the economic development of this continent and expanding our diplomatic presence there. Having some experience of effective work in this region of our planet, we’re ready to apply it to the Republic of Guinea. Trade –economic projects are the main driver, including co-operation in agricultural mechanisation, joint mining, infrastructure development, and the organisation of a system for providing primary medical care to the population.”
