Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the state has created all conditions to play sports, but some athletes have no passion and no will to win. If a person has no glint in the eyes and no determination, then there will be no success, the President believes. In this regard, the Head of State advised coaches and sports officials not to focus athletes on extremely high salaries.

“Everyone should understand that money must be earned. We will pay if results are achieved. Every athlete must be a patriot. If you want to work, then organise this process – starting from schools, and crank out new athletes like Smolsky, Domracheva… You know what to do. If you want to work, then work. I will make it worth your while. If you produce results, then you will always be honoured and respected. We will find money to support coaches and sportsmen in any difficult situation. If you do not want, then you now have a chance to step aside,” Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed those present.
