Lukashenko congratulated Sabalenka on winning major tennis tournament in Madrid
The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has sent congratulations to Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka on winning the tournament in Madrid, the Belarusian leader’s press service reports
"Dear Aryna! I am congratulating you on another triumph: your brilliant victory at the tournament in Madrid. Thank you for the joy you gave to millions of fans on the eve of Victory Day. You showed iron fortitude and will in the hardest final match against the world ranking leader. I am sure that we will enjoy many more of your bright moments and resounding victories. I wish you confidence in your abilities and good luck," the congratulatory message reads.
As earlier reported, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (second in WTA rankings) won the WTA-1000 tournament in Madrid. In the first set, she defeated the leader of the world ranking, Polish Iga Swiatek, with the score of 6:3, and then lost with the same result. In the decisive match, the Belarusian won again, with the score of 6:3.
