Lukashenko congratulated people of the Kingdom of Belgium on national holiday

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, has sent greetings to the people of the Kingdom of Belgium on the national holiday – as reported by the Belarusian leader’s press service

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that for centuries, Belarusians and Belgians have been defending their right to live and create in an independent state.

“In recent decades, our countries have been actively expanding bilateral co-operation, especially in the trade-economic and humanitarian spheres, which, of course, contributed to the well-being and development of both nations,” the congratulatory message reads. “Unfortunately, due to the short-sighted policy of the European Union towards Belarus, relations between us are now going through a difficult period.”

The Head of State expressed confidence that the soonest possible rejection of the policy of confrontation and the joint search for ways to resolve contradictions would contribute to the establishment of peace on the European continent.

Aleksandr Lukashenko confirmed Belarus’ readiness to deepen partnership and mutually respectful contacts with Belgium across all areas, and also wished the people of Blegium health, harmony and prosperity.
