"Unfortunately, the modern unstable and contradictory situation in our common space negatively affects the sustainable development of both countries, hinders the opportunity to receive mutual benefits. For many decades, the political figures of your state have been making a significant contribution to the resolution of very complex conflicts for the sake of peaceful coexistence of peoples. For example, it was in Helsinki that the historic final act of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe was signed. Belarus has also been contributing for a long time to the implementation of the initiative to organise a broad multilateral dialogue to strengthen confidence, security and co-operation measures in the region," the congratulatory message reads.

Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed his conviction that the creation of further barriers between Belarusians and Finns does not correspond to common interests. "It is necessary to return to the restoration of lost and the formation of new economic and humanitarian ties," the Belarusian leader stressed.

The President wished the people of Finland peace, success and prosperity.
