Lukashenko congratulated people of Bulgaria on Liberation Day

On behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has congratulated the people of Bulgaria on the national holiday: Liberation Day, the Belarusian leader’s press service reports

"Since old times, our countries have been united by Slavic traditions, common spiritual values, Orthodoxy and Cyrillic. Belarusians were among those who fought for the liberation of Bulgaria and its independence during World War II. Despite the fact that Belarus and Bulgaria have chosen different paths of development and alliances, our co-operation has always been constructive, based on the principles of trust and respect," the congratulatory message reads. “I believe the unfavourable political situation will not be able to break the spirit of friendship and numerous interpersonal ties between Belarusians and Bulgarians."

The Head of State stressed that Minsk is always interested in resuming an equal political dialogue with Sofia, expanding trade and economic co-operation, contacts between the regions, joint scientific, educational and humanitarian activities.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished the friendly Bulgarian people peace, prosperity, well-being and fruitful work for the benefit of their homeland.
