"This holiday is an important milestone in the fate of every country, it is identified with the establishment of statehood and securing a place on the world map," the message of greetings reads.

As noted by the Head of State, Belarus and Israel share close historical ties. Many prominent representatives of the Jewish people were born and studied in Belarus, and they contributed to the creation of modern Israel.

"Belarus has always been and remains a space of tolerance and mutual understanding. Of course, this welcoming atmosphere is appreciated by Israeli students who study at our educational institutions, businessmen who develop economic ties, pilgrims and numerous Israeli citizens who visit their relatives," the President noted.

Aleksandr Lukashenko confirmed his readiness to intensify bilateral political dialogue and co-operation in the field of science and technology, investment, agriculture, food industry, medicine, pharmaceuticals, education, and tourism. "I am confident that the resumption of direct flights will make a significant contribution to increasing the dynamics of Belarusian-Israeli contacts," he added.

According to the President, good human relations and a common history are a solid foundation for further expansion of bilateral ties.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, and this date is of particular importance to Belarusians and Jews who endured terrible trials and losses during World War II, stood ground together and preserved their identity. "Without the Victory won back then, it is impossible to imagine the modern world and the existence of independent countries, including Belarus and Israel. I am convinced that we will be able to preserve the memory of our courageous ancestors for the sake of peace and security of future generations," the Belarusian leader stressed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Isaac Herzog good health and fulfilment of his plans, also wishing peace, happiness and success to all residents of Israel.
