Lukashenko congratulated compatriots on Fatherland Defenders and Armed Forces Day

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has congratulated his compatriots on the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces, the Belarusian leader’s press service reports

“Dear soldiers and veterans of the Armed Forces! Dear compatriots! I congratulate you on the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus,” the congratulatory message reads.

“This holiday is inextricably linked with the struggle of Belarusians for sovereignty and independence, for the right to live freely in theшк native land. The best features of our people – courage, perseverance and heroism – manifested themselves most clearly during the Great Patriotic War, when both young and old stood up to defend their great Motherland. We carefully preserve the memory of this feat and in the year of the 80th anniversary of liberation from the Nazi invaders, we offer special words of gratitude to our dear veterans,” stressed the Head of State.

According to the President, we are proud of the defenders of the Fatherland of all generations, who have always fulfilled their military duty with honour – as was in distant Afghanistan and in other hot spots on the planet.

“I’m convinced that our Armed Forces today have everything necessary to repel any aggressor, to defend peace and harmony on Belarusian land, and the system of territorial defence and people’s militia created in the country gives the cause of defending the Fatherland a truly national character,” asserted the Belarusian leader.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished everyone strong health, happiness, prosperity and success in serving the Fatherland.
