Lukashenko: co-operation with Holy See will continue to be of particular importance for Belarus

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has congratulated Pope Francis on his birthday and the 70th anniversary of his priestly vocation, the Belarusian leader’s press service reports

"Over the years, you have been tirelessly bringing light, kindness and love to the world, sharing wisdom, giving everyone a piece of your heart," the congratulatory message reads.

The Head of State thanked Pope Francis for his prayers and care for Belarus and its believers, for friendship and respect. "I warmly recall our meeting and sincere conversation," the Belarusian leader noted.

According to the President, co-operation with the Holy See has been and will continue to be of particular importance for Belarus. “Despite the obstacles we face, Minsk and the Vatican strive to preserve a sustainable peace based on the principles of justice and equality for the countries of the world. Mutual support for the implementation of such goals gives hope that our joint voice will be heard," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The President wished the Pope good health, long life and God's grace in fulfilling his high apostolic mission.
