The Head of State warmly thanked his colleague and friend for the invitation to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan and the traditional oriental hospitality with which the Belarusian delegation was welcomed, “Our negotiations were held in an exceptionally open, friendly, fraternal atmosphere, they were meaningful and productive. We considered a wide range of issues and confirmed our principled focus on building co-operation in all areas where Minsk and Tashkent have joint projects.”

As noted by the Belarusian leader, the trade and economic sphere was primarily in focus. “In general, we boast quite good results here. Belarus and Uzbekistan are increasing mutual trade at a good pace. Last year, the trade turnover reached a new historical maximum of $500m, but still we understand that the reserves are huge,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said, adding these may include the creation of new and the expansion of existing partnerships at the regional level of the two countries.

“The Forum of Regions held in Tashkent a day prior to our meeting confirmed this truth. Unfortunately, contacts weakened somewhere during the pandemic, but the time has come to revive them and initiate specific projects,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
