Lukashenko awarded university alumni and lecturers

A solemn ceremony of awarding graduates and teachers of higher educational institutions has taken place at the Palace of Independence today, with President Aleksandr Lukashenko in attendance

Addressing the invited guests, the Head of State noted, “Today is a significant day for you, for the country, and for me as President. Your achievements bring joy and inspire.”

First of all, Aleksandr Lukashenko congratulated the alumni, “You are opening a new chapter of adult life, and it begins brightly and with dignity. Here, in the Palace of Independence, the well-deserved awards will be handed over to you, as well as to the lecturers, whom we thank today for their hard work and skill. There is a certain symbolism in this ceremony. You are taking just the first step into the profession, but are already sharing a moment of glory on a par with high-level professionals. This means you are ahead of time. It is good, and I wish you to hold on to this path. This is a great trust and advance, which I am absolutely sure you will justify.”

The President noted that each of the graduates invited to the ceremony became the best in their studies, scientific and social activities, sports, creativity, “Your relatives, school teachers and university lecturers can rightfully be proud of you. In short, you have passed the most difficult period, stage in your life. It has been the hardest one, if everything will be smooth in your life. I hope and wish you that, because there is nothing more difficult than studies in life. I think so. You are actually great! Meanwhile, for your success, I primarily thank those who gave birth to you, who raised and educated you, who have become an authority and a worthy example for you: these are parents, educators, teachers and devoted friends. I wish that you treat your kids the same way and bring them to the same level at this age at which you are now. It is together with them [the elders], with their support, you are so confidently going towards your dreams, achieving your goals. Your future colleagues — specialists with extensive experience, from whom you will learn further – will soon become the same support for you. I must tell you, you will not just learn from them, but also retrain. Life will make you do it. Do not be disappointed if you see something extremely new and different in your new life from what it was during the years of study. It is ok. It has always been that way. But your studies will still be the foundation, the basis for your future life.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed the youth, “You have completed your studies, and you are starting your career in the Year of Peace and Creation. May your future be like this: peaceful and creative! Looking at you – purposeful, bright and beautiful young people, I see that our native Belarus will become even better and more beautiful. I believe that you will do everything for that.”

“Our dear children! You occupy the most important place in our life, the life of the older generation. We are always close to you, we will do everything to make you feel our shoulder and care while you are going towards your desired dreams.  Your time is coming to create the history of our country, your country. Let everything work out for you!” the President addressed the already grown-up, serious and self-sufficient young people in a fatherly way.

The Head of State had warm words for teachers as well, “Without you – those present at this hall now and those who will hear us today, without all your colleagues, including school teachers — there would not have been this awarding ceremony, there would not have been this sense of confidence in the future. I have always said, and I will repeat: you are a real pillar of the state. May God grant you strength, inspiration and, most importantly, health.”
