Lukashenko arrived in Zimbabwe on state visit

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has arrived on a state visit in Zimbabwe: the highest protocol status of the visit, BelTA reports

The plane of the Belarusian Head of State landed at the airport of the capital city of Harare. The Belarusian leader was personally met by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The guard of honour company, the anthems of the two countries, volleys from salute installations – everything is of the highest rank, as it should be in accordance with the protocol during a state visit. But there was also a lot of national peculiarities, e.g., in line with the local tradition, garlands of fresh flowers are put on the presidents. Meanwhile, songs and drum music dances immediately plunged into the atmosphere of the African continent. Many local residents – supporters of the country’s leader Emmerson Mnangagwa – also came to the airport to greet the heads of state.

Aleksandr Lukashenko and Emmerson Mnangagwa left in the same car, which carried two presidential standards. The programme of the top-level bilateral communication includes an informal dinner.

The official part of the talks between Aleksandr Lukashenko and Emmerson Mnangagwa is scheduled for January 31st, with the heads of state meeting tête-à-tête and in an expanded format, involving members of the delegations from both sides.

With the participation of the two countries’ leaders, a ceremony of transferring equipment of Belarusian manufacturers will also be held as part of the completion of the second phase of the program for the mechanization of farms in the Republic of Zimbabwe and the start of the third phase of the program. The event will take place at the Zimbabwe Institute of Agriculture.

The Belarusian delegation has already started work in Harare. In the first half of the day, a Belarusian-Zimbabwean business forum was held, at which a number of bilateral documents have already been signed. Business meetings and negotiations will continue during the visit.
