Aleksandr Lukashenko will take part in a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Bishkek, which has about two dozen issues on the agenda. The EAEU leaders will discuss the development of co-operation projects in industry, the formation of common markets, work to eliminate obstacles and barriers in mutual trade, as well as the main directions of international activities for 2023, and other issues.

The EAEU summit official events are scheduled for December 9th, but before that, the presidents of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan will hold a bilateral meeting. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Sadyr Japarov will meet for an informal dinner on the evening of December 8th.

Kyrgyzstan is Belarus’ traditional partner in Central Asia. According to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Kyrgyzstan, Andrei Strachko, the bilateral trade turnover reached almost $100m last year, of which Belarusian exports accounted for 88 percent. In 2022, it may grow 1.5-fold.

"This year we are also working quite successfully, export growth continues. Actually, in 2022, a trend (something we have been striving for) has emerged: our exports to Kyrgyzstan are still leading in trade turnover, but supplies from Kyrgyzstan to Belarus have begun growing as well. Kyrgyzstan is our reliable and friendly partner, and we have always wanted not only us to sell, but also them to increase exports to our country. These include dried fruits, wool, and their main product – radiators, which we use in our industry," the diplomat noted.

The countries are now trying not just to develop trade, but also to create joint products. Among the upcoming projects is the creation of transformer assembly facilities together with the V.I. Kozlov Minsk Electrotechnical Plant and elevators with Mogilevliftmash.
