The event is held at the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library, in the centre of St. Petersburg. This historic Synod building on Senate Square is quite often used for high-level meetings and summits.

The Belarusian leader will take part in a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. The summit agenda includes more than two dozen issues, including those related to key areas for further development of integration processes in the EAEU, international activities, macroeconomic policy, work to eliminate barriers, reduce exemptions and restrictions on the EAEU internal market.

Also among the important issues on the agenda are the chairmanship and the personal composition of the Board of the Commission, the chairmanship in the EAEU bodies. In accordance with the EAEU Treaty, the chairmanship is carried out on a rotational basis in the Russian alphabet order. Accordingly, Armenia should take over the presidency after Russia this year.

A free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and its member states on the one hand and the Islamic Republic of Iran on the other hand has already been signed today in the northern capital of Russia. The document will significantly increase the competitiveness of the goods of the EAEU member states and thereby increase exports to Iran. The agreement as a whole will contribute to the growth of trade turnover, as well as the intensification of co-operation and investment liaisons.
