Lukashenko addressed Belarusians: there will be peace, so work quietly

After the meeting with activists of the Gomel Region in Vetka, the President of Belarus talked with local residents who had gathered near the District Executive Committee building. Aleksandr Lukashenko briefly shared the substance of the conversation.

“We should work so that people in the Gomel Region live better on the whole. We definitely have objectives to strive after,” the Belarusian leader said.

The Head of State thanked the people for their patience, “You are just great. I already feel how Belarusians, especially here in the south – Gomel, Brest regions which are frontline ones – have already begun to appreciate life. No food is now needed: people need peace.”

The President firmly stressed, “There will be peace, so no need to worry. The main thing is that you work quietly and raise your children. Don not worry. Anything happens, and a war is just close to our borders. Actually, I understand more than you: we should not get involved into this large-scale massacre. It will not bring any good, but people will die. We use its experience, we study it, and we take measures to make our army stronger. So do not worry. I do not want to fight, even more than you. I also have children, and you are all my children. I do not want to have to send you to the front somewhere. So calm down, work quietly. No one is going to attack us, including Ukrainians. Those from the West whom I meet also tell me, “Aleksandr Grigorievich, Mr. President, neither Poles nor Ukrainians are going to penetrate [into Belarus].” Maybe they are not going to, but we need to be ready for anything.”
