Kochanova: Belarus’ economic priority focuses on people’s needs

During her visit to Zarya agricultural company in the Mogilev Region today, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, Natalya Kochanova, said Belarus’ economic priority aims to meet people’s needs

“In modern difficult times, food security comes to the fore. Food prices will be growing around the globe – and our President has repeatedly voiced this. The tasks – set many times by the Head of State for the agro-industrial complex – have grounds. To ensure this security is a key goal at present. Your labour is greatly appreciated, you produce products with high added value. Accordingly, your work should be well paid, and collective treaty conditions should be met in full. Justice must be at the forefront, but we should not also forget about labour discipline,” Ms. Kochanova told the company employees.

The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic focused on the topics that are a matter of concern for all, while informing on the work the authorities are doing to prevent the deterioration of people's well-being: control over prices and range of products available at stores. “We know of the cases of unreasonable price hikes, and we are monitoring these facts. We conduct regular monitoring over a group of products that enjoy special demand. We are working to ensure that people do not feel the influence of sanctions,” she said.

Ms. Kochanova also commented on the security of Belarus’ state borders, saying that the Belarusian army had involved all its forces to this task. “I assure you that the Belarusian people do not take part and will not take part in any military operation. We will not fight. Our ancestors experienced horror, cold and hunger during the Great Patriotic War. They paid a high price for the victory. Belarus will never attack, but if they come to us, we will defend our country, territory and independence. We see how the world is changing, how approaches are changing, and how generations are changing. It is important for us to preserve our country amid this chaos,” the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic stressed.
