Kazakhstan introduced ban on import, production and sale of vapes

The meeting is being broadcast on the website of the legislative body.

Thus, the law establishes a ban on the import and distribution of vapes in the country, as well as a ban on advertising non-smoking tobacco products, some with heated tobacco, hookah tobacco, hookah mix, tobacco heating systems, electronic consumption systems, flavours, and liquids for them. Criminal liability is also introduced for the import and sale of vapes. It is prohibited to advertise goods using elements of the trademark and the name known as the name of non-smoking tobacco products and vapes, as well as their advertising at various events.

The innovations provide for mandatory professional liability insurance for medical workers: each medical organisation will conclude an agreement with an insurance company. A mechanism for the pre-trial settlement of disputes is being introduced. When a patient appeals due to harm to his or her life and health as a result of a medical error, an independent expert commission will consider complaints. Its conclusion will be the basis for making an insurance payment to the patient.

After their adoption by the Parliament, the amendments to the legislation on health care will be submitted to the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, for signature.
