Jason art book to be presented at National Library
Jason art book – a work of modern fine and book art – will be presented at the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus on January 25th – as reported by BelTA
The Jason art book is the result of a joint project of the Belarusian graphic artist, member of the Belarusian Union of Artists Fiodor Shurmelev and the Greek poet, collector Cris Gianakos. The publication is dedicated to the ancient Greek myth about the journey of Jason and the Argonauts who set out on a quest for the golden fleece. In it, the artist reinterprets ancient Greek mythology in a complex etching technique.
“The book contains eight poems and eight etchings for them, which are printed on Italian Fabriano paper. Silk thread was used for the binding, and handmade French marble paper – for the flyleaf,” noted the organisers.
In the exposition, guests will be able to see the book itself, eight etchings and matrices. The project took over a year and the book was published in 20 copies.
