Over the past year, Interpol has worked effectively to combat organised crime and the drug threat, destroying millions of tonnes of drugs worth more than $5bn – as noted by Interpol President Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi, TASS reports
“Last year, Interpol conducted over 44 special operations, involving more than 180 countries, arresting more than 19,000 criminals and dismantling a large number of criminal organisations, as well as eliminating millions of tonnes of drugs, estimated to be worth more than $5bn,” the President of Interpol noted at a plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
He also stressed that these figures clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of Interpol’s work in countering organised crime on a global scale.
