Interior Minister: September 17th is day of Belarusians’ historical justice

During opening of a new gym at the Interior Ministry’s Academy on the eve of National Unity Day, Ivan Kubrakov noted that the holiday of September 17th is a day of historical justice for the Belarusian people

According to the Interior Minister, National Unity Day – established by the Head of State in 2021 – has become a symbol of the continuity of generations, inviolability, self-sufficiency of the Belarusian nation and its statehood.

“On September 17th, 1939, the Red Army’s liberation campaign in Western Belarus began. As a result of that historic event, the Belarusian people were reunited again, and I am convinced that the heroic experience of our ancestors helped Belarus survive not only during the Great Patriotic War, but also overcome any social differences over the past decades. Belarus set a course for development of a strong and sovereign state. For centuries, people of various nationalities, cultures and religions have lived side by side on the territory of Belarus, and this diversity has become the country’s calling card and true Belarusian brand. People in uniform have also contributed much to this,” Mr. Kubrakov said.

The gym opening took place with participation of President’s Sports Club, which helped with provision of the necessary equipment. As noted by Mr. Kubrakov, the gym would unite Belarus’ policemen, “It is impossible to work in the internal affairs bodies without sports.”

In turn, Dmitry Lukashenko, the Chairman of the Central Council of President’s Sports Club Republican State and Public Association, expressed hope that training in the new gym would enable officers and cadets to become stronger – physically and psychologically. “It is nice to be part of this event, especially on the eve of such a holiday. This gym is symbolically opening at this time, and I think people will come here with great pleasure. I would like to wish our policemen that they strengthen their health here as often as possible. I think this is a good help in their hard work,” he noted.
