Hong Kong to scrap masks after three years of pandemic

Hong Kong authorities will lift the mandatory wearing of masks from March 1st after nearly three years of the coronavirus pandemic in order to return tourism and business to the region, said Chief Executive John Lee, Lenta.ru reports

As the speaker explained, they believe that the current time is the best time to abandon masks. “This is a clear signal that Hong Kong is returning to normal,” John Lee said.

At the same time, he added that in high-risk places, administrators can decide whether to require staff and visitors to wear masks. This applies, for example, to hospitals.

The Special Administrative Region of China is one of the last places in the world where the requirement for mandatory wearing of masks continues to apply.
