Head of Udmurtia on promising projects with Belarus: transport, elevator equipment, tourism
Belarus' Ambassador to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik held a working meeting with the Head of the Udmurt Republic, Aleksandr Brechalov, and the parties discussed co-operation projects between Minsk and Izhevsk in the economic, socio-cultural spheres
Belarus and Udmurtia demonstrate excellent results in mutual trade and new projects, and the annual figures are growing. Mr. Brechalov commented, “I am pleased that the range of goods and services we export and import is growing. From the point of view of Udmurtia's imports, these include not only food, but also mechanical engineering products, components in the field of electronics and microelectronics. This means that we are working together, as we should, to solve common problems of foreign imports, including from unfriendly countries. This is the absolutely right direction. This is the technological security that Udmurtia, Russia, and Belarus are interested in.”
Udmurtia is among Russia’s five regions specialising in processing production, which covers not only defence enterprises, but also agriculture and equipment for the oil industry. Accordingly, Mr. Brechalov believes, Belarus and Udmurtia have a huge potential for co-operation.
“In addition to general questions, there are also specific substantive topics for discussion. We are interested in co-operation with enterprises of the Republic of Belarus in the supply of vehicles, buses, and elevators. We have discussed this issue, and we are currently working over it. We are also interested in increasing the tourist flow and the launch of direct rail and air travel. A new airport with an international terminal will start working in Izhevsk on July 1st, and we view it as a source of a very serious potential for co-operation in terms of the economy,” the Head of the Udmurt Republic said.
As noted by Mr. Brechalov, during his meeting with the Belarusian diplomat, they exchanged a list of companies that are ready to supply products to each other and interact with partner enterprises. “I am glad that our format and approach to co-operation are as substantive as possible. After all, we do not need to convince each other that we are friends. Our efforts today should be primarily aimed to ensure that our economies and enterprises develop well,” he added.
