Gosstandart, Egyptian Organisation for Standardisation and Quality intensify interaction

An action plan was signed for the implementation of a memorandum of understanding between the State Committee for Standardisation of the Republic of Belarus (Gosstandart) and the Egyptian Organisation for Standardisation and Quality (EOS) during the 7th meeting of the Belarusian-Egyptian Joint Trade Commission, held in Cairo

The plan was signed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sergei Terentiev, and the Chairperson of the Egyptian Organisation for Standardisation and Quality, Dr. Khaled Soufi.

Gosstandart and EOS will share information on legislative acts in the field of technical regulation, standardisation, conformity assessment, standardisation work programmes, catalogues, information indexes of standards and other documents.

Another point concerns information about training programmes, organisation of seminars, professional trainings, internships, visits and meetings of experts on standardisation and quality-related activities.

Recently, Gosstandart representatives took part in the 2nd meeting of the Belarusian-Egyptian working group in agriculture, within the framework of which issues of admission to the Egyptian market of Belarusian halal products and recognition of certificates of conformity issued by BelHalal for these domestic products were discussed. The talks were also attended by the heads of the Belarusian State Accreditation Centre and BelHalal LLC.

Discussion of these issues was continued during visits to the Egyptian National Accreditation Council (EGAC) and the Egyptian Halal Certification Body (IS EG Halal).
