From agriculture to tourism: the tasks set by Lukashenko for Property Management Directorate

Today at the Palace of Independence, Aleksandr Lukashenko introduced Yuri Nazarov as the Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate, accentuating certain issues that need to be given special attention

Firstly, the Belarusian leader stressed that it is necessary to maintain the efficiency of each agricultural organisation, “For these purposes, it is necessary to fully provide livestock farming with feed of our own production. You understand that this will reduce costs and enable us not to depend on the situation on the grain market. The harvesting campaign is now a topical issue in the country. I know that your enterprises are not lagging behind, keeping pace with the country, thus ensuring high rates of grain harvesting. A good harvest of rapeseed was harvested: almost 30 centners per hectare.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko hopes that the current year will end with a growth rate of agricultural production of at least 104 percent. To this end, all necessary measures must be taken.

“Belarus has every chance to reach this level. I’m talking about agriculture for those who don’t know or don’t understand: there are actually 11 largest holdings in the President Property Management Directorate. You need to extend the experience of the mechanised unit, established by Vladimir Ivanov in Aleksandriyskoye to other farms. There is no extra forage. Having provided yourself in full, you will be able to sell the surplus,” the President points out.

The second point that the Head of State drew attention to was that some organisations of the Property Management Directorate ended H1 with losses (Belkhudozhkeramika, Slutskie Poyasa, Hotel Planeta, Mebel Interior Centre).

“This should not happen at the end of the year! Inefficient work must be eliminated as soon as possible. There should not be any unprofitable organisations,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised.

The third task, according to the Belarusian leader, concerns exports, whose volumes have remained almost at the level of last year.

“We missed a little more than one percent. I know the reasons. This is bitumen [stopping deliveries] to Ukraine and the export of sawn timber to the EU countries. We need to activate. The task is to solve these problems. Diversification of the supply of such goods is a topical issue. It is good that almost all the falling volumes are covered by food exports,” the President noted.

However, Aleksandr Lukashenko stated this was not enough. Therefore, he orients to look for markets in the South Asian region and in other directions, “Don’t wait, suggest! Yuri Viktorovich, you know from your industrial experience how to work in this direction.”

The fourth task is related to the housing issue. The Head of State recalled that the Belarus President Property Management Directorate is implementing a number of major projects for the construction of housing, paying attention to the construction of new and modernisation of existing industries.

“The approach is correct. I must tell you that I will support this direction. If you need government orders just tell me. Works on the construction of residential buildings, scheduled for commissioning this year, and of industrial facilities at the enterprises Molochny Gostinets, Baranovichi Poultry Farm, the Pripyatsky National Park should be completed without disruption. Every day of downtime means additional costs, these are lost profits,” the President concluded.
