The Prince accuses the publication of unlawful information-gathering and of his severe bouts of depression and paranoia. Between 1996 and 2010, about 140 materials were published that were collected by illegal means, says Harry.

A spokesman for the MGN defendant stated, “Many plots containing information about the Prince are based on data disclosed by the royal household or members of the royal family, or on their behalf.”

The publication noted that this case of giving testimony will be the first since the ‘royal baccarat scandal’ of 1890, when a card player accused of cheating filed a libel suit against the Prince of Wales (later crowned under the name of Edward VII).
