The political scientist was asked whether there is a threat today that the Belarusian society will be divided.
“Such a threat cannot be ruled out, but at the moment it is minimised. All our information resources are aimed at unification. All our rhetoric, including foreign policy, if you pay attention even to the invitation of our neighbours to become observers at the CSTO exercise, is aimed at finding some kind of compromise, calling for an end to artificial tension. Moreover, a historical fairway has been set. The date of September 17th should become landmark, like Independence Day or Victory Day,” said Yuri Voskresensky.
In this regard, he also spoke about the need to popularise other important dates. As an example, the political scientist cited such a historical event as the proclamation of the BSSR.
“We have already set a historical fairway, which has not been set before, and the word ‘unity’ has never been used as often as it sounds now,” the speaker added.
