Turkish companies are actively using the digital infrastructure and tools of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) for trade with Belarusian enterprises, acting as importers and exporters of various raw materials and non-primary goods. According to German Puzyrny, the Deputy Head of Foreign Economic Relations at BUCE, who participated in a consultation meeting on co-operation with the Republic of Turkiye, the exchange trade turnover between Belarus and Turkiye more than doubled in 2024 to $20.8m, sb.by reports with reference to the BUCE press service.
The event was organised by the Mogilev FEZ as part of preparations for the next meeting of the Belarusian-Turkish Business Co-operation Council and took place via videoconference.
“Turkey is one of the top ten countries in terms of the number of exchange transactions with Belarusian enterprises. Importantly, the dynamics of trade turnover are consistently positive, e.g., the growth rate in January-April 2025 was 109 percent compared to the same period in 2024. This year, the purchases of Belarusian lumber still dominate exchange transactions, accounting for 89 percent. At the same time, new product lines with great potential for scaling up supplies are gradually being added. Notably, sales of Belarusian flax fibre, sugar, wheat gluten and skimmed milk powder to Turkiye began last year. In 2025, the first exchange contracts were signed for supplying vet-blue semi-finished leather products to the country. Turkish participants also regularly purchase ferrous and non-ferrous scrap at stock exchanges, supplying domestic textile manufacturers with raw materials and selling equipment for the food industry in Belarus. In other words, co-operation between Belarus and Turkiye in the exchange sector is characterised by complexity and sustainable development,” the BUCE representative summed up.
A total of 112 residents of Turkiye are now accredited at BUCE, with more than half of them joining the Belarusian exchange floor between 2023 and 2025.
