Emmerson Mnangagwa warmly thanked the Belarusian leader for a productive meeting, during which the two leaders confirmed their commitment to strengthening their friendship and deepening their bilateral interaction. The heads of state summed up the results of their co-operation over the past few years.

According to the President of Zimbabwe, Belarus is welcome in Africa.

“Zimbabwe’s unique position allows it to become a hub for selling Belarusian products across a wide region. This will facilitate closer economic liaisons with many countries in this part of Africa. Our partnership with Belarus will greatly contribute to the development of our industry and economy,” Emmerson Mnangagwa emphasised.

In addition, the joint mining of mineral resources could be a promising area.

“By working together, we can develop a shared investment framework to promote productivity growth and foster the growth of our economies. We are ready to consider new opportunities for co-operation, particularly in the fields of waste recycling and water treatment, in which our Belarusian colleagues have experience and innovations that could greatly benefit our country,” Emmerson Mnangagwa said.

The Zimbabwean leader also underlined the importance of bilateral partnership in the current challenging international climate, and the African partners are determined to increase co-operation, including through various international platforms.

“Our focus will be on achieving mutual understanding on various international issues, and we will continue to condemn the imposition of sanctions, as these measures only serve to hinder the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. We reaffirm our commitment to supporting the lifting of sanctions imposed on our countries,” the President of Zimbabwe noted.

In addition, the distinguished guest expressed gratitude to the Belarusian people for their friendship with Zimbabweans.
