Belarus’ relations with African countries are developing dynamically, Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich told journalists after today’s meeting with the Head of State on key investment projects with foreign countries, sb.by reports
Mr. Karankevich noted that Belarus’ relationships with African countries are advancing rapidly, “Product deliveries are being ensured, the variety of goods is growing, and volumes are rising — including industrial products and foodstuffs. These countries are interested not only in receiving machinery and food supplies but also in using Belarusian technologies and expertise. This offers us a chance to establish long-term contracts.”
The Deputy PM stressed that entering African markets should also involve establishing joint assembly plants and service centres, “There are concrete examples of service centres operating in Zimbabwe, and projects are underway in other countries such as Nigeria, Togo, and Ghana, where such facilities will be set up. Most importantly, there is a push to create assembly plants that will use Belarusian machine parts.”
Additionally, Belarusian experts will train local personnel in maintaining and operating this equipment, allowing for more accurate planning in producing both the machinery and the necessary accompanying equipment.
Mr. Karankevich also reminded that the Government’s action programme to develop co-operation with African countries for 2026-2030 has been approved, outlining key areas of interaction, “There are specific developments and projects in place, and results will not be long in coming. The year 2026 should also show significant growth in foreign trade turnover with African countries.”
