Defence Ministry: Belarus’ Armed Forces strengthened state border sections in southern direction
The Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus continue to implement the task set by President Aleksandr Lukashenko to strengthen sections of the state border in the southern direction, the Defence Ministry reports in its Telegram channel
According to the Defence Ministry, the main purpose of the Armed Forces is to ensure the safety of Belarusian citizens, to stop violations of the state border, and to exclude channels for the supply of weapons and ammunition. Important facilities, including roads and overpasses, are under the protection of the army.
“A set of measures aimed at countering possible threats is being carried out at sites along the perimeter of the southern part of the country. The personnel of the special operations forces of the Armed Forces are involved in implementing this task, and they pay special attention to work at checkpoints," the source reported.
The Defence Ministry explained that the units of the Armed Forces deployed on the reinforced sections of the state border of Belarus do not pose a threat to anyone, but at the same time reliably protect the country, its sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
"The local population knows the situation in the adjacent territory and understands that the Belarusian military personnel ensure the security of the country," the source added.
