The diplomat stressed his particularly friendly attitude towards Belarus, noting that Belarus and Cuba enjoy not only professional but also friendly ties, “This indicates a high level of our relations achieved over many years. We have survived the crisis moments, withstood the pandemic and continue to develop further. Thanks to Belarus’ support, Cuba received observer status in the Eurasian Economic Union last year.”

Juan Valdez Figueroa stated that Cuba intends to further render comprehensive support to Belarus. “We see how many states are attacking Belarus. This is done with a single goal: to undermine the country’s authority. Recent events in Kazakhstan could act as an example. Our country demonstrates solidarity towards Belarus in connection with an unlawful interference of other states. This is a matter of a sovereign state,” he added.

The Ambassador of Cuba also noted the need to continue expanding trade co-operation. “Our countries boast a great potential. Belarus exports machinery and agricultural products to Cuba, and also has extensive experience in high technologies. It is necessary to develop further along this avenue,” he stressed.
