CSTO Secretary General reported on annual results: almost all plans implemented

Thirty-two out of 34 planned activities have been implemented over the past year, and two of them failed due to the position of European organisations and Armenia's decision – as stated by CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov during his today’s meeting with the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko

First of all, Imangali Tasmagambetov thanked the Head of State for the opportunity to personally discuss problematic issues and ongoing work processes related to a number of important events: a joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defence Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of the CSTO Security Councils, as well as a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.

A report has been prepared with focus on the action plan of the implementation of the Collective Security Council decisions and Belarus’ priority directions during the country’s presidency in the CSTO. Imangali Tasmagambetov informed the President on its details, “Out of 34 events, thirty-two have been completed. Two events, unfortunately, have not been implemented. These are primarily our international contacts with European international organisations (such as the OSCE) – due to their positions [not been fulfilled]. The second issue deals with the instruction of the Collective Security Council to finalise the decision on assistance to Armenia.”

The CSTO Secretary General added that the Armenian side has not expressed any interest in the document, despite the fact that all allies supported the decision, “Moreover, in the final part of our work, they asked to remove it from the agenda.”
