Bloomberg: Russian Rouble is world’s best performing currency in 2022
The Russian Rouble has grown by 11 percent against the Dollar since early 2022 thanks to measures taken to counter Western sanctions, Bloomberg reports
As stated, the Russian Rouble has surpassed Brazil’s Real which added 9 percent in exchange rate against the Dollar since the beginning of the year. The Rouble’s strengthening was facilitated by the Russian government’s policy to control the movement of capital and also its requirement to pay for natural gas supplies in the national currency of the Russian Federation.
"The irony of the Rouble performing so well during military operations is remarkable, especially as other countries that imposed capital controls in the recent past have not achieved the same results," the source said.
