Belarus now has new Aide to the President, as well as new Housing and Utilities Minister and Transport and Communications Minister

President Aleksandr Lukashenko has made today a number of personnel decisions. In particular, the Head of State appointed Igor Brylo – who until now served as Agriculture and Food Minister – as Aide to the President – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region.

Gennady Trubilo has been appointed Housing and Utilities Minister. Previously, he worked as the First Deputy Head of this department. The Transport and Communications Ministry is now headed by former First Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Lyakhnovich. Addressing the appointed ministers, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted, “In addition to the tasks that I would like to set before you, I think that it is more important that you know better than me what needs to be done in the areas of work entrusted to you. Frankly speaking, I don’t remember a case when we appointed deputies as heads of ministries, as ministers. We were always looking for new people, so that a new person would come, a professional, who would look with new eyes at this or that department. But in this case, I think that both Gennady Alekseevich and Aleksei Alekseevich are well-prepared people. I cannot say that the ministries were failures and the former ministers did not work well. Therefore, we settled on the candidacies of deputies. But a lot of work lies ahead.”
