Belarus-Kazakhstan trade turnover set record: $1bn+

A dynamic dialogue at the level of the heads of state is a locomotive of Belarusian-Kazakh relations – as stated by Belarus’ Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik following his talks with the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu

“Mutual respect and long-standing constructive relations between them [the president of Belarus and Kazakhstan] actively drive our co-operation both in the Belarus-Kazakhstan format and in the format of our integration associations. The heads of state met not long ago: in October 2022, in Astana. Meanwhile, in November 2023, we expect the participation of the President of Kazakhstan in a session of the Collective Security Council in Minsk. The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at a meeting with respected Murat Abugalievich [on June 19th], highly appreciated the dynamics of our interstate co-operation, noting that it has reached the level of strategic partnership and covered all spheres," Mr. Aleinik stressed.

According to Belarus’ Foreign Minister, the countries are actively working together over new, more complex co-operative projects. He described the dynamics of trade and economic relations as positive, “I would like to note that, in 2021, our trade turnover exceeded $1bn for the first time in history. This year also shows positive dynamics. Importantly, we are progressing every new year, and there is very reason to believe that this trend will continue thanks to our joint efforts.”

According to Mr. Aleinik, the further progress will also be facilitated by the intergovernmental action programme outlining the development of trade and economic co-operation in 2023-2024 signed this year.
