Belarus, Hungary discussed co-operation in nuclear energy

On March 25th, on the sidelines of the Atomexpo forum, a meeting was held between Belarus’ Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich and Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó, sb.by reports

The heads of departments of the two countries discussed the prospects for exchanging experience in the construction and operation of nuclear power plants, personnel training, radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel management. They also discussed the possibility of involving Belarusian specialists in the implementation of the Paks II nuclear power plant (NPP) project in Hungary.

Viktor Karankevich stated that the terms of bilateral co-operation are being worked out at the level of the joint working group on co-operation in the field of nuclear energy, “In fact, an additional platform has been formed where Belarusian and Hungarian specialists will be able to exchange positive practices in the development of nuclear energy infrastructure.”

Peter Szijjártó noted the high level of implementation of the NPP construction project in Belarus and expressed the Hungarian side's interest in studying the experience and competencies accumulated by Belarus.
