Belarus’ Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov is visiting Kazakhstan from April 14th to April 15th, sb.by reports citing BelTA

The visit’s agenda includes high- and top-level meetings, inaugurating Belarus’ Consulate General in Almaty, opening a stock exchange forum and new Belarusian retail outlets. In addition, Maxim Ryzhenkov is expected to tour Kazakhstan-based enterprises with Belarusian investment.

Belarus and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations on September 16th, 1992, with embassies opened in both countries. The presidents hold bilateral talks and sessions regularly, including within integration organisations. Belarus-Kazakhstan legal framework consists of over 80 international treaties, at the core of which lies the Treaty on Socio-Economic Co-operation until 2026.

Kazakhstan ranks among Belarus' top partners in terms of exports within CIS and in general. In 1996, the countries established the Belarusian-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Co-operation, which remains active to this day. Bilateral meetings of the subordinate body are held regularly, addressing co-operation in industry and trade, the Working Group’s efforts to identify promising areas in agriculture, and proposals put forward by the Mixed Commission on International Road Transport. Joint efforts in science and technology are co-ordinated by the Science and Technology Co-operation Commission. The countries also host sessions of the Belarus-Kazakhstan Joint Business Council.
