Belarus’ FM: Minsk, Tehran successfully liaise on international platforms
Following the meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Minsk today, Belarus’ Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov told reporters that Minsk and Tehran are successfully interacting on international platforms, BelTA reports
Maxim Ryzhenkov stressed that Belarus and Iran – as states subjected to sanctions pressure – condemn the use of economic restrictions that contradict the principles of international law, harm ordinary people and provoke an escalation of tension. “In this regard, I am pleased to note the successful interaction of our countries within the SCO and BRICS to promote national interests on these international platforms, which represent the voice of the global majority," he said.
As noted by the Foreign Minister, Minsk also welcomes Tehran's commitment to participate in the development of the Eurasian Charter on Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century. He also expressed confidence that the entry into force on May 15th of this year of the free trade agreement between the EAEU and Iran will give good results and will serve the interests of peace and development in Eurasia.
"I also want to confirm my intention to pay an official visit to Tehran at the time agreed by the parties. I am convinced that this visit will give an additional impetus to joint projects and will allow us to bring our countries closer together," Maxim Ryzhenkov said. “The negotiations have shown that our capitals have formed a common vision for building a strategic partnership, and new steps and joint projects are to follow.”
The Foreign Minister added that the results of the negotiations will become a solid foundation for further deepening co-operation and strengthening the bonds of friendship between the peoples of Belarus and Iran. "Thank you for your attention and interest in our work. We are open to dialogue and are always happy to share positive results that benefit our peoples with you," he assured.
