Belarus’ external public debt fell by 1.6% in January

As of February 1st, 2022, the country’s external public debt stood at $17.9bn – down by $0.3bn (taking into account exchange rate differences) or 1.6 percent since the beginning of the year – as reported by the Finance Ministry’s official website

At the same time, as of February 1st, 2022, Belarus’ public debt totalled Br58.9bn – up by Br0.6bn or 1.1 percent compared to early 2022.

Meanwhile, the domestic public debt, as of February 1st, 2022, amounted to Br12.0bn – up by Br0.2bn (taking into account exchange rate differences) or 1.6 percent since the beginning of the year.

This January, external government loans were attracted in the amount equivalent to $65.3m, the repayment of external government debt made up $271.9m. It is also noted that placement and redemption of domestic government bonds were not carried out.
