Belarus enjoys record rapeseed harvest in 2022

This year, the rapeseed harvest in the country is the largest in history: 927,000 tonnes of oilseeds (against 816,000 tonnes in 2021) – as informed by the Agriculture and Food Ministry

The figures vary countrywide: the Brest, Grodno and Minsk regions harvested more than last year, and the others – less.

Rapeseed is one of the most profitable crops. This year, purchase prices have increased again, and cultivation has become even more economically attractive.

Rapeseed husks are used as fodder, but rapeseed oil is of major significance and enjoys demand on the international market. In 2020, Belarus exported 291,000 tonnes of this product to generate $244m, while, in 2021, the sales made 336,000 tonnes to earn $420m.

In the future, Belarusian farmers plan to increase rapeseed production – reaching 1m tonnes in the coming years.
