The Belarus—China: Bridge to Innovation-2026 forum has begun at the Great Stone Industrial Park. The event aims to strengthen sci-tech and innovative production co-operation between organisations in Minsk and its twin cities in China: Beijing, Shanghai, and Changchun. Over two days, participants will explore long-term opportunities and directions for sci-tech interaction between the two countries. The forum will also feature presentations showcasing technologies, high-tech products, and services from Minsk-based organisations aimed at the Chinese market, sb.by reports.
During the forum’s opening, Piotr Filipovich, the Deputy Head of the Administration of the China-Belarus Great Stone Industrial Park, highlighted that new technologies today serve as a bridge linking countries, economies, and people, fostering new growth areas and opportunities for development.
“Belarus and China are strategic partners who continuously create opportunities for mutual development across various fields, including innovation. Belarus boasts a strong tradition in science and engineering, a well-established education system, and abundant human resources. Meanwhile, China has made remarkable progress in technology, supported by a vast manufacturing sector and a robust innovation infrastructure. Currently, it is crucial to strengthen practical co-operation between the two countries by jointly developing new products, setting up co-operative research centres, and training skilled professionals,” Mr. Filipovich emphasised.
Yang Junke, the Science and Technology Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Belarus, pointed out that in recent years, several joint research initiatives have been successfully implemented within the framework of Belarus-China co-operation. These projects span areas such as new materials, information technology, biomedicine, agriculture, and smart manufacturing.
“The Great Stone Industrial Park — a landmark project of co-operation between the two countries — is steadily evolving into a key hub for the transformation and commercialisation of sci-tech achievements. Hosting this forum will undoubtedly enhance close co-operation among universities, research institutions, businesses, and industrial parks from both countries, establishing an open, inclusive, and practical platform for exchange,” he noted.
Mr. Junke also highlighted that a new era of sci-tech revolution and industrial transformation is underway, with the cross-border flow of innovative elements speeding up, presenting fresh opportunities to further deepen China-Belarus co-operation in science and technology innovation.
Georgy Vershina, the Director General of the BNTU Polytechnic Science and Technology Park, emphasised that the core of any educational process involves not just imparting knowledge but also fostering competencies and innovative thinking skills among students.
“I am pleased to observe that this approach is being actively applied in many Belarusian universities, whose students participate enthusiastically in this forum. By becoming part of the extensive Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Belarus is steadily and deliberately advancing a policy focused on enhancing co-operation with Chinese partners in education, science, and high technology. This effort undoubtedly supports not only the economic growth of both countries but also strengthens the friendship and mutual trust between their peoples,” Mr. Vershina said.
The forum’s activities are scheduled over two days: October 8th at the Great Stone area, and October 9th at the BNTU Polytechnic Science and Technology Park. On the first day, a scientific and practical seminar focused on supporting innovative entrepreneurship was conducted in partnership with the Administrative Committee of the China-SCO Pilot Economic and Trade Co-operation Zone.
Throughout both days, a scientific and practical conference — Belarus-China: Outlines of Innovation and Technological Co-operation-2026 — will take place. This conference will cover mechanisms and tools for economic and cultural integration between Belarus and China, as well as cutting-edge technologies in fields such as medicine, physiology, surface engineering, new materials, instrumentation, machine building, information technology, construction and architecture, biotechnology, and ecology. On the forum’s second day, there will also be a scientific and practical seminar on youth entrepreneurship, which will include a competition for innovative startup projects: Innovation Initiative-2026.
